Spotlight: A.O.C.
LOS ANGELES As one of the most popular dining and nightlife spots in Los Angeles, we find out just what's so special about LA's perennially packed A.O.C. Wine Bar & Restaurant.
Food and wine experts flock to this seemingly obscure destination on West 3rd Street in West Hollywood for it’s wonderful selection of international wine varietals and its sophisticated tapas-style sharing plates to match. Founded by chef Suzanne Goin and sommelier Caroline Styne, pedigreed at Lucques, the restaurant boasts a coveted and unique cruvinet wine storage system that allows the establishment to offer over fifty choices by the glass, half glass, and carafe. Chef Goin’s plates are usually small, but they pack a punch and make their point, like clams with sherry and garlic toast, cauliflower with curry and red wine vinegar, or brisket with romano beans and olive aioli. Or you can opt for the lighter option and try a fleet of well-chosen cheeses and charcuterie. The minimalist decor and modern furnishings mask the traditional, rustic pretensions of this all-around accessible and fun eatery. The melt-in-your-mouth desserts, such as the chocolate and peanut butter brownies, are also a must.
