Tucked away in a quiet area of the picturesque Cannareggio district, Paradiso Perduto is one of the most popular local nightlife haunts of the local Venetian crowd. Serving as both a restaurant and a live music club, Paradiso Perduto is all about good wine, a warm atmosphere and offers a fantastic playlist of live music performances (usually held on Sundays and Monday evenings). Legendary jazz musicians such as Chet Baker and Archie Sheep have all graced the stage here, and when no performances are scheduled the crowd is permitted to take the stage for impromptu performance on the piano--just ask the charming owner Maurizio. Paradiso Perduto also hosts frequent photography and art exhibitions, poetry readings and debates to keep things interesting. Don’t miss their delicious Venetian cichetti (cicchetti?) snacks to round out the effects of the delicious Italian regional wines served in typical Venetian ombra glasses. Open until the early hours of the morning, its best to arrive early if you want to grab a seat amidst the crowd and settle in for the cool sounds of the performing musicians.
