Bodega Tapas Bar

  • Spanish

Surry Hill’s wildly popular upscale tapas restaurant is simply brilliant, from its super cool modern decor with bold colourful mural splashed all over the walls, to the enigmatic co-owners Ben & Elvis, who rock the place every night with their Latino-inspired mojo. Their refined Spanish/ South American modern tapas is the talk of the town, including delicacies such as Argentinian-style beef empanadas with salsa criolla; grilled calamari with morcilla, pumpkin puree and ink sauce; and slow cooked salmon with an eggplant and potato sandwich, piquillo dressing and olive dust. The crowd is as hip as the decor, queueing out the door each night due to its strict no-booking policy. Music is loud, and the restaurant’s vibe is social with a cranking open kitchen and communal tables. Thankfully the boys have recently opened a tiny bar next door where you can while away the time sipping great cocktails and international beers until your table is ready, and are due to open a new Sydney venture soon - no doubt it will be another smash hit like this one.
