Pilu at Freshwater

Set within a heritage-listed house with magnificent views over Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Pilu at Freshwater will make you feel like you've been magically whisked away on a sensational beach holiday, if only for a few hours. In keeping with its stunning oceanfront setting and its charming, rustic beach house interiors, chef Giovanni Pilu artfully celebrates the simplicity and elegance of Mediterranean cuisine. Pilu's own Sardinian roots are clearly evident in the menu, which combines premium local produce with imported Sardinian products such as bottarga (dried roe) and local artisanal cheeses. If you have the time and the inclination, the Sardinian degustation with matching wines is so good and so authentic that you’ll be wondering whether you’ve time travelled and landed on Sardinia’s shores. If you are dining a la carte, you can’t go past the calamari ripieni with tender tubes of stuffed calamari; or the signature porchetta arrosto (slow cooked pork) which is an impossibly soft, melt-in-your-mouth extravaganza. The Sardinian take on vanilla panna cotta is a dreamy and delicious way to finish your meal. Bookings advised.
