If you happen to be in Surry Hills on a Saturday morning and see a lengthy queue of people winding down the street, then you've most likely stumbled upon the local baking institution, Bourke Street Bakery. Set within a tiny space on a random residential corner in trendy Surry Hills, Bourke Street Bakery is legendary for its freshly baked bread, decadent sweet pastries and its obese muffins literally oozing with delicious fresh fruit. While it barely lays claim to being a cafe (with only a handful of small tables and some milk crates to sit on outside), this is more of a takeaway place. We recommend that you head straight to the park next door afterwards to scoff your baked goods in privacy.
