An icon of Art Deco architecture on Miami's famed Ocean Drive, the towering 12-story Tides South Beach had a glamourous overhaul in 2007 by designer Kelly Wearstler (of Viceroy Hotels fame), which has re-launched The Tides as one of Miami’s coolest luxury hotels. Gorgeous vintage furniture blends with kitsch nautical-themed interiors, including in-room telescopes which come in very handy for scanning the high seas (not the voluptuous girls on the beach, of course). The outcome is beautiful visual feast for the eyes, and the spectacular ocean views from the majority of rooms takes centre stage. The service is the benchmark in Miami, where each guest is appointed a personal butler where no demand is too outrageous (don’t be afraid to test the boundaries). Thus, the hotel is a favourite for the visiting international A-list for its immaculate service and exclusive setting, where don’t be surprised if you see Bono sitting discreetly in the pool area quietly reading. However don’t even think of asking for an autograph, as that’s simply not done at The Tides
