As one of the most buzzing recent openings in Madrid, Bar Tomate is a cool new addition to Madrid’s dining and nightlife scene. With a fun, vibrant atmosphere, this design-led restaurant features rustic wooden floors, white dangling light fixtures and an eclectic mix of furnishings that range from paper lanterns to artfully displayed bookcases. Bar Tomate’s front dining area offers individual tables for small groups, while the back dining room has a more communal feel with long wooden tables designed to be shared. Bar Tomate’s casual menu of Mediterranean flavours offers everything from Spanish tapas to homestyle Italian dishes, along with more internationally-inspired dishes such as tuna tataki. From the tapas menu, try the delicious homemade croquettas with either Spanish ham, mushrooms, or cheese; the fried baby artichokes; or the asparagus tempura with Romesco sauce. While the food is appetizing, people tend to come here more for the atmosphere and design of this hip nightlife destination. The bar offers inexpensive and well-chosen Spanish wines and snacks, which are also served throughout the day for a more casual dining experience.
