The Antonio Catalán Palacio has been in the Oriol family for over a century, since its construction, and now offers five-star luxury with a magnificent view over Retiro Park. Its stylized ceilings, frescoes, stained glass and tasteful wooden floors have been restored to their original vibrancy, and some gems have been added, like paintings by renowned Andalusian artist Julio Romero de Torres and many pieces from the private collection of Mr. Catalán. Interior designer Lorenzo Marqués had quite a task in renovating within this delicate environment, but he succeeded in achieving an understated modernity that draws celebrities and CEOs alike. Technological and modern amenities are available (standard Wi-Fi, fitness center, sauna and spa) but rather hidden from view. The hotel offers both standard rooms, though of considerably comfortable size, and indulgent suites, one of which takes up the Oriol family’s former library, still with a great collection of hardbounds.
