Arne Jacobsen Architecture
Designer, architect and landscape gardener, Arne Jacobsen was one of the most influential designers in Denmark’s history. For design & architect aficionados, don’t miss these iconic Arne Jacobsen landmarks which can be found throughout the city and outlying districts of Copenhagen:
1. SAS Radisson Rotal Hotel - Completed in 1960, this is one of the city’s tallest skyscrapers and is considered to be one of his greatest achievements. While the hotel has modernised since then, you can still visit the hotel’s room 606 which has been left in its original design.
2. National Bank - This was the last major project of Arne Jacobsen before he died in 1971, located on Copenhagen’s waterfront.
3. Jacobsen Restaurant, Bellavista Housing Estate & the Petrol Station - To see some other examples of Jacobsen’s work, take a road trip to the coastal suburb of Klampenborg to visit his restaurant, his series of housing estates and to the most funky, futuristic petrol station in Denmark.
