Set within a mansion which was formerly the residence of German silent film star, Henny Porten, the Lebensstern Bar is hidden away above Berlin’s famous Cafe Einstein--a famous Vienna-style coffee house and restaurant. Bar Lebensstern is spread across five intricately furnished rooms, where the central bar is located in a former men’s parlour with the original wood panelled walls of a traditional 1920’s study. Having been awarded the “Best Drink Selection” during Berlin’s prestigious Tales of the Cocktail awards, Lebensstern Bar’s impressive liquor selection is on full display behind the bar, which can also be purchased if you’d like to take home a sample home of what you’ve been drinking. Slowly work your way through their expertly crafted drinks list, where you can’t really go wrong ordering anything from the menu. The signature cocktail is the potent ‘Kartauser Martini’ with Booth’s gin, green Chartreuse, Dolin dry vermouth and Chartreuse Elixir Vegetal; the refreshing ‘Mai Tai’ with Renegade Rum; or the ‘Insomnia’ with saffron gin, Punt e Mes Italian vermouth, maple syrup and peach bitters.
