Ubud Hanging Gardens

  • Design

If Babylon's ancient Hanging Gardens existed today, they could definitely look something like this. Perched around an Eden-like gorge are 38 serene villas, a resplendent double-tiered infinity pool, and a Hindu temple; you'll need to take a funicular from reception to your suite, and most everywhere else (though a few hundred stairs will take you to the bottom of the valley if you are so inclined.) Each villa has its own private heated infinity pool, looking out over the verdant gardens of the valley and bordered by an outdoor terrace. The Ubud Hanging Gardens in-house restaurant, Beduur, serves French and Asian cuisine by Executive Chef Renaud Le Rasle. Private dining is an option, and organized or impromptu picnics can be taken to go. If you'd like to learn the secrets behind the dishes, you can even take a cooking class. Personal and outstanding service completes the picture of luxury. Stock up on local crafts and clothing at the boutique, and if your suitcases are overflowing, consider leaving behind old clothes or books you no longer need as the resort will donate them to those who do. Ubud Hanging Gardens is 30 minutes' drive from Ubud city center, and a free shuttle departs hourly.
